Week 2…Check!

Well, we have week number two under our belts now and I must say I love homeschooling more today than even last week!  So I would say that’s a success!  Big Bro has been responding very well to my instruction and guidance which was a special blessing for me.  And Little Bro …well, he is soaks up everything that  comes his way!

So here’s another peek at our week:

Little Bro learning about “me” by having his body traced…a little help from Ala, too

Using pattern blocks…Little Bro looks mighty proud…and on the other side of the work area is Big Bro busy as work in his school clothes (night clothes :) with a comfy blanket.  I haven’t been taking photos of Big Bro and I working together since he would prefer me not to right now (you know that age) but this week we have worked on vocabulary through a novel study and focused on both penmanship and keyboarding.  Of course, he still has his main core subjects that he’s doing online.  This coming week he will begin the meat of his World Cultures class and I’m excited to be able to do some hands-on projects related to Mesopotamia with him.  I’ve been researching the topic and look forward to giving him something new :)

Day two:  Big Bro taking a break to read to Little Bro and best friend “B” a book about A

What a great big brother he is!

Everyone loves when Papa comes over…working on motor skills with a little game of catch.

Even Papa gets into the action reading books to the boys while they have a snack…gotta love it!

Sink or float experiment                                   Apparently, Ala thought it was a big water bowl!

An assortment of things they tested…including a bike and a bowling ball…bigger is better for boys, you know!  Yep, they both sank…just in case there was ANY doubt.

Day 3…our first day at our new homeschool co-op (a group of fellow homeschoolers who take various classes offered, socialize with other kids and give moms a chance to meet, too).

Friday we try to do a fun field trip…this week we went with hs friends to the Florida Aquarium…but this time I decided we would do a scavenger hunt while we enjoyed the animals and exhibit.  Little did I know it would be a big hit with the kids AND Papa who made sure he answered every question!!  Even Little Bro worked studiously on his scavenger hunt during our visit!

Here’s a sneak peek of Big Bro’s new shirt (aka…school uniform) Interesting fact:  all represented on Mt. Rushmore were homeschooled!  Cool, huh?  Daddy and Little Bro have new shirts, too, photos next week maybe.

Okay, thanks for checking in.  Our schedule will be a bit off this coming week as it will be Little Bro’s 4th birthday and Nana and I are leaving for two days to a church retreat!!  So we are doing double schooling on Labor Day, Tuesday, Wednesday and will be off for Thursday and Friday.   Ahh, the freedom that homeschooling gives us is starting to reveal itself!  Until next week…
